Why- We want to address two critical needs- health/wellbeing and environmental sustainability. We know the benefits nature and community connection have on people’s health and wellbeing and want to provide an opportunity for people to connect with nature and each other in a meaningful way. We also want to encourage our community to invest in a more sustainable way of growing food and have an understanding of how we can better look after our environment.
How- We host volunteer days 4 days a week, offering a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds can join our farm community and learn new things. Volunteers identify what they would like to get from their experience. Whether this is help into employment, building confidence, learning skills or managing their own health and wellbeing, we support them to achieve their goals.
The farm does all it can to boost biodiversity and nurture the land. Permaculture principles are at our core. Every element of the farm is designed to work in harmony with nature.
What- Volunteers engage in a wide range of activities, such as caring for animals, planting and harvesting seasonal produce, and maintaining natural habitats or helping in our shop. In return, they gain practical skills, environmental knowledge, and a deep sense of belonging. We currently have 30+ regular volunteers and see over 100 volunteers throughout the year.
2026 has got off to a great start with 30+ regular volunteers turning out despite the very wet weather! We have been very busy fixing drainage issues, repurposing rubble, pruning, sowing and clearing winter debris ready for spring!
Would you like to join us and volunteer on the farm? Get in touch and we can tell you about the different volunteer opportunities we have.
“Meeting new people has increased my feeling of being accepted and being ‘okay’. The staff and other volunteers at the farm are friendly . The staff are encouraging and patient teaching new skills . This has increased my confidence at taking on unfamiliar tasks and getting satisfaction from a job well done.”
